Liverpool fans current sentiments
The next game will be telling. As much as this was a not great performance, there were a few chances and really should have been a point.
Roles were reversed when Mo had his Mané moment shooting from a tough angle instead of crossing. Both he and Mané had a couple decent chances they'd have buried on another day. Robertson had some dangerous crosses no one was on the end of. Lallana looked good coming in. Ings looks like he might be able to contribute with some more minutes. VVD looked solid aside from that header. And we're still 4th.
For me, if it's one loss after 18 unbeaten and then back on track while getting some more of the squad into form, I'm happy. The narrative could've easily been about getting a result when not at our best, so I don't buy the overreaction, disappointing though it was. The team looked leggy and the bench players haven't had many minutes to be sharp. Looks like Klopp will be riding a fine line to balance best XI cohesion, rest, and keeping the squad sharp.
Obviously the result is a disappointment, we got it wrong tonight, pure and simple. As mentioned though, there's plenty of positives to take from the game. Ings contributed very positively in what was a thankless task for him. Robertson and Gomes get better every game. Bump in the road is all, they'll be read the riot act for it by Klopp I'm sure. This team is on the up, no two ways about it.
Happy to see Lallana play today. Reminded me of why he is my favorite player. Quick feet, neat turns, great link up play. When he's fit and on form hes an absolute joy to watch and I'll go as far as saying he's England's best midfielder.
Sucks he missed that chance tho. But a healthy, on form Lallana will do wonders to our midfield.
It could be my rose-colored glasses, but I thought Van Dijk looked pretty good. I just wish our other defenders didn't keep running into him...
I am sorry I couldn't relate much as I am not into sports but I am glad you enjoyed the game.
