IMHO, Happiness is not free.

Please you have to take it easy and try understand that, whatever is written here is IMHO and has nothing to do with you, your belief, orientation or otherwise.
It is not you, it is me. .. 😁

I strongly think that, the argument that "Happiness is Free" is a misleading one and as such, we should all learn to make up our own words that will best explain our situation, rather than live based on some wordings we pick from some famous book.

Take a look at real life situations and make your decision of happiness is free as a thing spoken or free as a choice based on our mental attitude.

One quick question before we start having the disagreements:

Do you think it is possible for a hungry man to be happy?

Do you think a poor man can be happy despite his harsh situation?

Do you think a sick man can lay claim to happiness because someone tells him it is free?

Better still, can you as an individual lay claim to happiness when you are in your moment of want?

Can a man with $10Billion stay happy knowing he has an incurable disease with just 7 days to live?

Can a dying man (with just few hours to live) stay happy because he is handed a Billion dollars and a Lamborghini?

What is happiness?

Happiness is a choice. Happiness is homemade and happiness is what you choose to make of your life.

"Whatever makes you happy doesn't come freely and if happiness is golden, you can be damn sure it isn't free."

Some live happy because they choose to and many live sad because they never really got to that point where the choice to stay happy is theirs to make.

Can you buy happiness?

The argument that, money can't buy happiness is also strongly debated as there are quite a lot of people who will disagree.
Some saynit can while others say it can't, but I am sure the story can best be explained based on the situation.

If you search the internet for that topic, you will see lots of memes, pictures and quotes that says otherwise.

It isn't really clear what is.

The world is hard and will continue to be hard and no matter what anyone says, we all have to live out lives on our own terms.
Getting to hear someone say, you can be happy when everything around you says otherwise is just wrong.

Happiness is not something you wish because there is such a word that says it is free. It is something you choose to have based on some enabling factors that makes it easy to come by or not.

Make your life more about what you want than what the world tries to shove down your throat.

IMHO

Happiness is not free and this is true because, the hungry and sick man cannot lay claim to happiness no matter what is preached to him.

Even if you give a sick man happiness serum he will not be happy, all he wants to stay happy is good health.
Likewise a hungry man needs food to be happy and not some motivational speech about the mythical happiness is free.

Money cannot buy happiness and this is true because I have seen some very rich people live their lives finding happiness only to end up killing themselves.

A man with money that lacks peace if kind will never be able to function until he can have his peace.
The rich are able to maintain a happy lifestyle if and when they choose to, but whenever they are struck by some ailment, affliction or financial hardship, they loose all trace of happiness.

Haven't you wondered why a rich person with everything they will ever need still goes on to commit suicide because they are depressed and unhappy?

Some other thoughts.

Happiness is a choice and if you do not choose to be happy, you will never be happy.
Even if you have the whole money in the world without a heart to stay happy, you will be able to lay claim to happiness.

Do you think a poor man who gets a chance at wealth after years of poverty will stay unhappy?
Do you think a rich man who suddenly goes poor will stay happy because he once was rich?

It is by choice and not by wishes and no motivational quotes can turn a sad man into a happy one.

Happiness is not free, it comes at a price.
However, the choice to stay happy is something you can freely choose to make or not.
