I thought you knew #15: America attacked
Did you know that the United States of America was attacked in the deadliest assault in all of the history of the Free world in 2001? Well it was, and I thought you knew.
On September 11, 2001, 19 terrorist under the umbrella of al-Qaeda hijacked 4 airplanes and carried out suicide attacks against selected targets in the United States including the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.
Two of the planes loaded with 20,000 gallons of Jet fuel were flown into the north and South sides of the twin towers of the World Trade Center in New York City, and a third plane hit the Pentagon just outside Washington, D.C., and the fourth plane crashed in a field in Pennsylvania.
Almost 3,000 people were killed in this coordinated attacks that triggered major U.S. initiatives to combat terrorism and defined the presidency of George W. Bush.
Well, now you know this sad event happened 16 years ago.
May the souls of the departed continue to Rest in Peace.
