Ritual killings in Africa: A story to tell
A guy and a girl both fall in love somewhere in Africa, the guy happens to own a car, a house and some other things. The girl truly loves the guy, one day, she turns up dead, she has been used for rituals by the guy she so dearly loved.
Sometimes, I believe the real victims of ritual killings is neither the guy nor the girl, it is the parents of the person who was killed. Imagine the pain of going through childbirth, nursing a child through childhood, only to find out that the baby will be killed because someone else wants to ride an exotic car.
While sometimes it is plain greed that lead these people to their deaths, other times, it is so much more than that. Sometimes, they are just simply victims in the game of love. The innocent faced person we see today might be neck deep in rituals, no one is to be trusted anymore.
Almost on a daily basis, we receive reports of young, able bodied females who die off after being dropped off by strange men, or simply run mad. People want to make it so desperately that they don't care how they go about it.
If these people even stop for a second to think, the Benz they were killing themselves for some years back, most of those models have become outdated.
The sad part is that, even with all the rituals, these people don't even end up becoming the richest men in their locality and that is largely due to two reasons;
- They didn't work for it.
- They had the wrong mindset before even doing it.
A lot of these people just simply want to do rituals to make money and enjoy the good life. They don't care what they have to do anymore to attain that. So, when they eventually run into small cash, they just empty it on bottles at the club, buying exotic cars, womanizing and travelling and that's just about it.
What they don't know is that their lives end even before it begun.
Some of these practices come with strict dos and don'ts. They have to follow a certain pattern or renew at certain points in time or else it'll have grave consequences on them.
Some of them cannot eat certain foods anymore, foods they normally would love, some will have sores that will never heal, some are doomed to sleep at cemeteries, others will ejaculate maggots, some become regular customers to eating human faeces, some sleep in caskets, you name the barbaric acts they have to get involved with just to make quick money and people blame the ladies for not knowing who they fall in love with?
Trust is fast becoming obsolete as no one can say he or she is marrying a complete human being anymore.

Imagine someone doing rituals to drive a Volkswagen beetle or own an iphone1. But now, they are almost phased out.
Human's greed is insatiable. And once someone gets neck-deep into rituals, there's almost no going back.
It would start with; bring gf or bf, to bring parent, until the person sacrifices his own life. All for vanity

The sad part is this money doesn't make them as rich as Bill Gates sef.
Really sad to see all of this happening. We're just 2 months away from the national elections and with the tumult still on about Biafra and the President's apparent demise long ago, it's hard to tell what there is to believe anymore. It's harder to build and grow in such a climate of unrest.
With the recent ritual-killings, not even the city of Portharcourt is spared. It isn't exactly safe anymore (not safe enough to let a kid stray as late as 6pm). I'd advice everyone to be cautious and watchful. Upvoted.
