Interesting events recently with regard to our community.

Big outage of the blockchain last night; Without any announcement; Nothing mentioned in Steemit Inc main communication channel @steemitblog
Still nothing in the Steemit user interface to give some status information to us, like informing us on the scheduled or unscheduled outages
Steem services seem to have difficulties with whatever happened to the Steem blockchain after last nights event; Were they informed? It seems to be a scheduled outage with changes to the blockchain
Still no SMT
'BETA' status to Steemit service and in my view also Steem blockhain, for more than two years by now

and added to that:

The co-founder and CEO of Steemit Inc, responsible for the developments of the blockchain and Steemit user interface, in power down status for several weeks

and:

Early adopters and big supporters of Steem trying to change things, now also in power down status

while:

Soon, ONO will launch their international version, a new social network similar to Steemit; Launched in China about two months ago; With about 300.000 users signed up and using the EOS blockchain technology (the blockchain designed by the former co-founder and CTO of Steemit Inc)

I have difficulties to form an opinion on this. But what I know is Steemit will not have a monopoly anymore. I also don't see the changes to the Steem distribution algorithms we need to implement and test to determine if we can make a better system, with reduction of abuse and counter the paid bot voting economy.

I certainly hope things will become better, Steem and maybe even Steemit will have a future of relevance in crypto space. But sometimes, like after the recent blockchain outage and the way this is handled, my doubts increases.
