P$G... there are some things that money can't buy!
Since Nasser Al-Khelaïfi bought Paris Saint Germain back in 2011, his obsession has been winning a Champions League title. But sometimes money is not enough to make dreams come true. Year after year player signings get bigger and better, but so does the disappointment.
During the 2017-18 group stage, PSG had one good match against Bayern Munchen (when their players were trying to get Carletto Ancelotti sacked) and crushed teams like Celtic and Anderlecht. With the newcomers Neymar and Mbappe the expectations were high, but the first played for himself at Madrid (got injured later in a League game) and the second is too young to lead a team.
With Emery in charge Di Maria and Draxler are barely considered, Verratti is at his worst, Dani Alves acts like tourist and only Cavani is really stepping up to the challenge. Needless to say, Real Madrid walked through the opposition (3-1 and 1-2) even though their perfomances in the Champions and domestic league are far from the team that won everything a year ago. PSG's performance was so sad that Cristiano Ronaldo used them to enhanced his goal records, Benzema was missing in action and Zidane even left Modric, Kroos and Bale on bench.
What should PSG do? Sell Neymar? Get a coach with military skills like Conte or Simeone? Al-Khelaïfi's wallet will remain open for as long as it takes, but it seems like there is no project rather than signing big names and hope for the best.
