I have had several experiences with ill health from a very tender age the hospital was our home. I said "our" because I was given birth to as an identical twin; both boys and according to my mom and grandma, we were no strangers to the doctor’s office; always convulsing which always lead to a series of blood transfusion in some cases.

According to grandma, there was a time I fell sick and was taken to the hospital but immediately I came back my twin was admitted also because when I was discharged I was given one of those small spoons for giving kids medicine and the guy wanted one too.

So he cried for days for his own spoon and before they knew it he was running temperature and was taken to the same hospital, treated by the same doctor, was given a spoon and the guy came back home a happy guy .

MY EXPERIENCE
My first year in the University was all about getting good grades that sometimes I even forget to eat, running off to early morning classes and reading after classes until my brain hurts.

It was in one of those early morning classes that the fever started, lingered for days and it was becoming annoying not because it was a high fever but because it was starting to interfere with my focus and study; I was feeling pains all over, my stomach was hurting and I was vomiting.

So I was taken to the university's hospital by my twin brother who happened to be two years ahead of me in the same university.

_ Don’t ask, long story._

The University’s doctor diagnosis for the fever chills, vomiting and stomach pains i was having ,was ulcer and malaria so he gave me some drugs that will help get me back to a healthy state in no time. At least so he thought.

On January 21, I was rushed back home from school by my twin brother because I fainted in school and the fever and pains was still very much my companions. I was admitted in UBTH and the doctor's diagnosis indicated I had APPENDICITIS not ulcer or malaria which was about to rupture. I was immediately taken into the ER for operation.

Always get a second opinion

😂 😂 no in such situation 👆👆👆smoking is bad for your health 😝😝😝

The fever was mild, I had chills and my stomach hurt but that doctor used the student’s factor in diagnosing me ie I believe the doctor felt my stomach hurt should be because student normally don’t have time to cook talk less eat.
I think he took the mild fever as a sign of malaria and his wrong diagnosis almost cost me my life.

There are so many inexperienced doctors out there, always seek a second opinion for your life might depend on it.
