Acting Governor of Aceh, Dr. H. Safrizal ZA MSi monitored the launch of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program in several schools in Banda Aceh, Monday (6/1/2025).

The Acting Governor was accompanied by the Acting Mayor of Banda Aceh, Almuniza Kamal, along with several heads of Aceh work units (SKPA), provincial officials, and the Banda Aceh City Government.

The MBG program was implemented simultaneously in 26 provinces in Indonesia on the same day. The program is part of the campaign promises of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka in the 2024-2029 Presidential and Vice Presidential Elections.

Acting Governor Safrizal began his visit at SMP Negeri 10 Banda Aceh, then continued his review to SMA Negeri 16 Banda Aceh.

In his statement, Safrizal emphasized that the Aceh Government fully supports this program as a strategic step to improve community nutrition, especially among students and Islamic boarding school students.

"We throughout Aceh support the implementation of this nutritious food program as an effort to improve children's nutrition," said Safrizal.

In the initial stage, the MBG program in Aceh targets children at Kindergarten (TK), Elementary School (SD), Junior High School (SMP), to Senior High School (SMA).

The trial phase will last until Friday (10/1/2025), with the food serving process being closely monitored to ensure there are no technical or logistical obstacles.

According to data from the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), there are 190 Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG) or MBG kitchens operating throughout Indonesia.

These locations are spread across 26 provinces, including Aceh, West Sumatra, North Sumatra, Bali, Riau Islands, Riau, Lampung, Banten, West Java, DKI Jakarta, Central Java, East Java, and DI Yogyakarta.

In addition, the program also covers the areas of Gorontalo, West Sulawesi, South Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, North Sulawesi. East Kalimantan, North Kalimantan, South Kalimantan, Maluku, North Maluku, East Nusa Tenggara, West Papua, and South Papua.

The government hopes that this program can be one of the solutions to reduce nutritional problems in Indonesia while supporting better child growth and development.
