Is Functionality a Value?
Is this how A.I. is born? Thru the creation of value based code?
The net was created to function but the code is being rewritten with values encrypted in blockchains. The internet is becoming value based and consequently, self aware in that it represents a global conscience. We can and must encode the values of the Planet and the life that is supported by feedback systems or systems of surplus.
A Planetary conscience can be encoded through blockchain, can be representative of the values we cherish and can be instrumental in a world that will be healthy and vibrant for future generations.
This may just be a part of the present rendition of the human story. Our challenge always is to overcome our fears and go beyond ourselves.
Thoughts?
While I enjoy the idea of encoding value into the blockchain, I personally believe value is primarily discovered/optimized rather than created.
What about blockchains that are intent on singularity? If we can encode value(s) into blockchain we might be able to keep the genie in the bottle, so to speak. I recommend this YouTube documentary and follow up on the work that Ben is doing now.

In theory yes, but if/when AI becomes self-aware how will it regard its own DNA/language code? Once AI begins to self-examine its structures who knows where it will go. I think this is where Ben's work is so valuable from a teaching point of view. How will AI view its creators, too? If we can encode values that are common to all human life, such as gratitude for a healthy environment, we may be able to share common sentient values. I guess the proof will be in the pudding.
