Good Morning!

Just thought I would share a little bit of my morning routine.

My feet hit the floor!

Those moccasins have seen alot of miles. Oh the stories they could tell! I try to keep away from synthetics. I believe that we should be as connected to source as much as possible. In summer.. barefoot is the norm!
Our trusty hound, Koda, is now 10. A senior by mastiff standards. He usually accompanies me, but at -30°C he prefers the heat of the woodstove!

Then to the little girls room! You can tell is a woman's camp, we get all fancy...lol
I refuse to do outhouse at -30 and during black fly and mosquito season. So basically, that leaves 3 weeks that I use the out house. ;)
I learned alot my first year in the bush. Doozy of a learning curve!
We now use a compost toilet, which is a win win for us out here.

Next the water goes on the stove for my tea. In the winter we melt snow on the woodstove. What we drink it gets filtered through a Berkey system. Wash water, dish water, and animal water doesn't get filtered in the winter.
Snow water ratio is roughly 20:1. I collect the night before, fill the canners so that the water is warm for washing in the morning. The animals get nice warm water in the morning. We call it their "morning tea", because I add oil of oregano sometimes.

Off I go to see the critters, with my water bucket in tow. I usually do a walk around, see who comes to visit in the night. We have a fox that makes sure we have all the gals tucked in, although his intentions are very different than mine!! Lol
We seem to be gathering a great flock. Very blessed to be in their company. They truly look out for each other.

On the way back in, grab my wood for the day. Gotta make my trips count!

Make it just in time for the water to boil for that glorious first cup of tea!!

And let the day begin :)
Peace and love to all.

Thank you for sharing your morning routine! I have never seen Muscovy ducks on the ice. We used to have some. They are quiet and great for the garden. Peace and love to you, too!

Muscovy are the best buggers ever! They are such troopers! The drake takes care of the flocks, always the last to go in at night. Did you know they have an "antifreeze compound" in their feet, to help with freezing?

I agree! I sometimes feel that the animals, living by their natural instincts, take their responsibilities more seriously than the humans!

Haha to using the outhouse 3 weeks a year lolol :) I loved that line.

Nice to see your chickens too, they look like happy gals <3 xo

Thank you!! I can't imagine my life without them! Such characters!
Happy holidays my friend!!

Beautiful moccasins and it looks so peaceful there:) brave winter chickens!

The moccasins were gifted to me many years ago. As a going away present on this leg of my journey! So grateful.
The chickens are such troopers! And I still get eggs every day!

Just love this "day in the life" style of this post... PLEASE do write more...

It was fun to write! Thank you for your encouragement!

Nice to meet you, earthmother! I'll definitely be following you. Hope that first cup was the best ever. Now you have me running for the kettle too!

Nothing beats that first cup of tea!!
Love your posts! Looking forward to connecting often!

This was a fun journey in "a day in the life". Yay :) This could become a good theme post for the group!

Hmmmmm it could!! :)
Have an amazing day!

You too @earthmother!
