Medium deleafing today
I just deleafed this sourstrawberrykush back here in the greenhouse. It was bothering me that there was more leaves then buds. Typically I would have already deleafed these plants. Since the boss is more concerned with crypto now and days I have been concentrating mostly I'm keeping it minimal as far as work goes back here and to spend more time blogging and working around the house especially since it is still technically winter and there's not much I can do about the weather and lack of sun other than consume more power and run power cords from all over the place as our electrical is still not up to par or safe enough to really use like we need to for this greenhouse. Im making a more detailed blog post or rather with more pictures and a video later today.
Awesome Lolly-Pop Job!
Nooooooooooooo! Why? That's like giving a pregnant woman liposuction!
Don't take off leaves unless harvest is here!
I understand in your world this is a big issue. I've learned over the last 10 years of growing to not tell individuals that they are doing something right or wrong. But the reasoning behind this is that when leaves overgrow parts of the plant IE causing shade to happen over the buds and other leaves it actually causes those shaded leaves and buds to Yellow and not properly grow by stopping the production of vital photosynthesis properties like chlorophyl production. Its why most growers "lolli pop" and deleaf by week 2. This was happening here. Ive found over the years it also helps with bud production as less energy is used on the leaves and more for the buds. Also helps prevent mold and mildew especially this time of year. Another good point of reference is forest floors. A typical forest floor has 70% shade and 30% light. It is still important for the canopy to allow some light in when in nature.
Always clean up the bottom third. But to strip those leaves? Those are the major process of converting and feeding the plant!
Sorry but grow them side by side and you will see way more yield than the deleafed one. You just can see it.
And stretch the branches out so the vegetation isn't blocked from getting light.
That's why the flat top shrub.
And scrog? Same thing.
But it's done. You should look into low stress training and bonsi. Very helpful. And deleafing is a hot topic but the real info is out there.
There are so many myths. Same with pound a nail into the bottom of the stalk? Weakens the structure of the plant and open wound? Seen that happen too.
Myths need to die. And yeah you can see the progress. But if you have a shrub strain like Alaskan Thunder Fuck? I put a clear bottle into the canopy to force the side growth.
Sigh. I'm sorry sweetie it will be OK!
shakes my head.
The yellow? That plant is pulling all the nutrients from the leaf. Like fat on a pregnant woman they put that effort to making a flower and trichromes to catch pollen! And late in fall they shed all of those water leaves. Telling you that you get to see the bud production.
And yes the lower third of the plant should be cleaned out and not let any new growth start! Waste of energy.
But come-on. The plant ripens at different times
Great information here.
Thank guys.
