WALKING IN MERCY
As a Christian do you know who you are in Christ? We must always remember who we are in Christ, part of our pray point in our day to day life should be mercy of God, sometimes we all don't understand the difference between mercy and grace, Mercy holds back from us what we really deserve. While grace gives us what we do not deserveWhat does walking in mercy really means? Our Lord Jesus Christ have set a perfect example for us in Mathew 18:15-20
15 “If your brother or sister sins, go and point out their fault, just between the two of you. If they listen to you, you have won them over.
16 But if they will not listen, take one or two others along, so that ‘every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.’
17 If they still refuse to listen, tell it to the church; and if they refuse to listen even to the church, treat them as you would a pagan or a tax collector.
18 “Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.
19 Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven.
20 For wherever two or three are gathered (drawn together as My followers) in (into) My name, there I Am in the midst of them.
if your brother sins against you,go and tell him his fault between you and him alone, if he listens you have gainedWe have some people that if someone sin against them, they will not talk and they will not forgive that person and holds the grudges against that person, as a Christian this not right for us, God should be our imitator psalm 105 says "The Lord is good. His mercy is everlasting." Psalm 138:8 says, "Your mercy, O Lord, endures forever." Yes, it involves His plan. And that plan is eternal. And it never is without mercy in it. If anybody sin against you, go and tell him and if you work things out God will bless for it
We see Jesus emphasize the need for member of the community to treat one another with mercy. It is absolutely necessary that as member of the kingdom community we coexist peacebly with each other and relate freely without offense. In our passages today Jesus outlines the steps to be taken to restore relationship between Christians. The initiative is with the offered, he/she should approach the person who offends and set forth the issues before him/her.It also points out the fact that conflict resolution is often a communal or corporal issue. We must not pretend that what affects other members of the community does not affect us. Paul sets good example in Philippians 4:2-3, " I entreat euodia and I entreat syntche to agreeing the Lord. Yes, I ask you also, true companions, help these women, Who have laboured side by side with me in the gospel..." plainly put, make every effort to resolve issues and restoration of relationship must be a priority. In vv. 17-20 Jesus emphasizes the power and influence of the church in ensuring that there is unity and oneness in the body. In case of an unrepentant stance, her power to administer discipline would be upheld in heaven.
Prayer: lord, give me the love and courage to work for peace in your body
Among siblings there should be no resentments or memories, we must be brave to face in love any offense, all of us somehow offend, but only a brave and mature person can establish the necessary communication to restore the relationship.
God bless you
