Witnessing the Top Ten Tags and how they behave.

Utopian.io was indeed a great initiative which rewards the community by their drastic open-source contribution. And with that it gained a lot of support which makes it a big trend in this platform Steemit. I would thank all the team for they deserved it a job well done to you guys!

And because of this trend it leads me of making my own analysis out from the Top 10 tags in Steemit, this includes the total number of Posts, Votes, and Comments and these data were extracted via @arcange's SteemSQL and with the help of @jassennessaj in making this analysis and also @carlgnash which gives me hints in doing my queries.

Details of the Analysis

• Data were extracted using @arcange Steem SQL at December 19, 2017 at 11:13 a.m. (UTC +8).
• The analysis focuses only the number of posts, votes, and comments (December 5-11, 2017) out from the Top Ten tags of Steemit and make some analysis comparing the results from previous week (December 12-19, 2017)
• Table, Bar and Pie Graph Presentations are included for a better understanding of the analysis
• The Top Ten tags are the main focus of this analysis ( #life, #photography, #steemit, #bitcoin, #art, #kr, #introduceyourself, #blog, #travel, #steem )

We can determine that the tag " #life " is always leading base on the number of posts from December 5 - 11, 2017

As well as the number of votes the tag " #life " is leading based from December 12 - 19, 2017

Fun facts: I just realized that within a span of 7 days Steemians can accumulate 122,878 numbers of comments this only shows that the "#life" tag has greater number of engagements.

Aside from that the top 3 authors under the " #life " tag

1. @jack.the.ripper having 1,453 Posts
2. @drumz having 1,281 Posts
3. @ryox having 1,149 Posts

Data Comparison

In this portion we will compare the data gathered between the increase and decrease in number of Posts, Votes and Comments by using this method

"(December 12-19 - December 5 - 11 )/ December 5 - 11"

I used this method to emphasize the activity of steemians under a specified tag out from Steemit Top Ten tags" if there's an increase or decrease in numbers of Posts, Votes, Comments and with that we will came up with my conclusion and the possible reason why there are changes in its activity. One factors why I choose the set date because that was the time wherein the price of sbd rose up more than 10x its price and also to monitor if that sudden rise of sbd would affect the activity of my fellow steemians under the "Steemit Top Ten tags"

As you can see there are changes in number of posts between the two, My intuition for this is maybe because of the sudden hype of SBD's turning all Steemians to make more blogs so that it will accumulate greater chance of having author rewards and to take advantage of what is happening with the SBD's. Considering the fact that we're comparing the output data's from December 12-19 with the data's from December 5-11 we noticed that during the sudden increase of the price in sbd the activity of steemians also increases.

And for the third and fourth rank follows for the #steemit and #bitcoin tag, we can actually see the difference base on the pie graph

And for the fifth and sixth rank follows #kr and #introduceyourself tag

And for the seventh and eight rank follows for the #introduceyourself and #blog tag,

And last for the ninth and tenth rank follows for #travel and #steem tag
From the data gathered we can see that there's great change of Posts, Votes, and Comments.

Data Implications

On these weeks specifically, (December 5-11, 2017) (December 12-19, 2017) something alarming happened in the Steemit Platform, December 5 was the day SBD price started to bloom which is pretty much rare thing to happen in the Steemit platform. With that thing, I made an analysis post on how it affected the overall behavior of the tags, especially the top ten tags widely used by Steemit. It has never been a thougt that due to the increase of value of SBDs and Steem, number of posts literally tend to increase also, maximizing and taking advantage of the SBD pump.

Overall, what I have noticed is that when the SBD went crazy they were changes in the number of Posts, Votes, and comments under Steemit Top Ten 10 tags and with show the %Increase/Decrease of its number.

With SBD price pumping up and with Steem, I can see that it will be the most used tags up to next week. Basically since the pump was rare, and technically because it rose up more than 10x, "cryptocurrency" steem bitcoin and steemit topics will be a trending tag to use.

And with that there is a great possibility that there will be higher number of Posts, Votes, and Comments if the price of sbd and steem will continuously goes up.
