When we look at it with a foreign perpective, it is perceived that only Islamic History is existed in Turkey.
But Turkey has a very long history of Christianity and culture. The Anatolian territories met with the Ottoman Empire after the fall of the Byzantine Empire. So what happened before 1453 is my interest. I will offer you information on the Byzantine churches. One of them is the Khora Monastery, which is now the Museum of the Kariye, the Christ of the Redeemer. As the name implies, the Savior is devoted to Jesus.

The meaning of Khora is the countryside. Because the church is outside the walls built by Constantine. The church, which reached the site of the day, remained from the third construction period.
It was built between 1077-1081 by Maria Dukaina, mother-in-law of Komnenos. In the 16th century Khora church was converted mosque by the (Hadım) Atik Ali Pasha. In 1860, a Greek architect liberated himself from extinction with the efforts of the architect.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Redeemer is here in Istanbul for 936 years and is about 696 years old. This church is the most interesting church in Istanbul after Hagia Sophia. Because it has a unique richness with its mosaic, fresco and marble coatings. This uniqueness comes from the frescoes and mosaics that reflect the Renaissance to Byzantine Painting. It is now open for your visit to the museum. If you live in Istanbul and you still do not visit, you must do it. It will enchant you unique impressive beauty. Perhaps you are more influenced by this church than you are influenced by Hagia Sophia. If you will come from another country, it will be the way you took it. Khora Manastırı, KurtarıcI İsa Kilisesi, Kariye Müzesi

Yabancı bir gözle baktığımız zaman Türkiye’de yalnızca İslam Tarihi varmış gibi algılanır.
Fakat Türkiye’de çok köklü Hristiyan tarihi ve kültürü bulunmaktadır. Anadolu toprakları Bizans İmparatorluğu’nun düşmesinin ardından Osmanlı İmparatorluğu ile tanıştı. Yani 1453 yılı öncesinde olanlar benim ilgi alanım. Sizlere Bizans kiliseleri hakkında bilgiler sunacağım. Bunlardan biri şimdilerde Kariye Müzesi olan Khora Manastırı, Kurtarıcı İsa kilisedir. İsminde de anlaşıldığı gibi Kurtarıcı İsa’ya adanmıştır.

Khora’nın anlamı taşra (sur dışı)dır. Çünkü kilise Konstantin’in inşa ettirdiği surların dışında kalmıştır. Günümüze ulaşan kilise 3. inşaa döneminden kalmıştır.
Aleksios I. Komnenos’un kayınvalidesi Maria Dukaina tarafından 1077-1081 yılları arasında inşa edilmiş. 16. yüzyılda Hadım (Atik) Ali Paşa tarafından camiye çevrilmiştir.1860 yılında Yunan bir mimarın çabalarıyla yok olmaktan kurtarılmıştır.

Kurtarıcı İsa Kilisesi 936 yıldır İstanbul’da burada ve yaklaşık 696 yaşında. Bu kilise Ayasofya’dan sonra İstanbul’da en çok ilgi çeken kilisedir. Çünkü içindeki mozaik, fresko ve mermer kaplamalarıyla eşsiz bir zenginliğe sahiptir. Bu eşsizlik Bizans Resim sanatına Rönesansını yansıtan freskler ve mozaiklerden kaynağının alır. Şimdi müze olduğu için ziyaretinize açıktır. Eğer İstanbul’da yaşıyorsanız ve hala ziyaret etmediyseniz mutlaka etmelisiniz. Eşsiz güzelliğiyle sizi büyüleyecektir. Belki Ayasofya’dan etkilendiğinizden daha çok bu kiliseden etkilenceksiniz. Eğer başka bir ülkeden gelecekseniz aldığınız yola değecektir. Yüzyıllar önesinden kalma bir kutsal kitabı okumuşcasına derin bir hissiyatla sizi uğurlayacaktır. Mutlaka ziyaret ediniz.
