Last night was very lucky because after a long time our kadupul plants were in bloom.😍😍I was very happy to see it.Our mother found those plants a long time ago.When I was a child, my grandmother used to say that if a kadupul flower was offered to the Buddha when it was in bloom, it would be a blessing to receive the kingship of Sakvithi in the future.Such is the belief of our ancestors.At that time I offered the flowers to the Buddha with my sister because the flowers wither before dawn.😇😇
People who know about Kadupul usually know that this flower blooms between 11pm and 12pm and fades around 6am.This flower is also known as the queen of flowers.This belongs to the cactus family.There are two varieties of Kadupul flowers in Sri Lanka.The leaves of one flower are slender and elongated, while the other leaves are broad and clustered.Kadupul flowers usually bloom only a month or two after the month of Vesak and there are ancient legends about these flowers.I heard this story from our grandmother.She said this flower has a very old history.
Once upon a time a group of angels from the world of snakes were bathing near a lake.At that time an ascetic had come to the place.He also wanted to meditate at that place.Seeing this, the angels hid in the lake.They thought that this ascetic would leave soon.But the ascetic came there to meditate.He did not leave until the next morning, so it was difficult for those angels to hide in any more water.So they have come up out of the water.At that moment, the ascetic's mind was shattered by their sound.Angered by this, he turned them into flowers in the same lake.The Na kings inquired about their absence and heard what had happened and tried to rehabilitate them but to no avail because the magical power of the ascetic is powerful.Thinking that it would be a relief for them, the kings placed the angels in the branches of the plants on the ground.Since then, these angels have been scenting the human world.
As the queen of flowers, she is truly beautiful.The aroma is mesmerizing.I have heard that the gods as well as the cobra world are going to worship Siripadaya with this Kadupul flowers . I have never seen another flower that can be compared to the beauty of this flower that blooms in the dawn and dies in the dawn itself .So it is fair to consider her the queen of flowers.
