In the United States and Canada, the personal information of more than 100 million people has gone missing. The hacker has stolen that information by hacking the computer system of Capital One, a MacLean-based financial services firm in the US state of Virginia.

The incident is considered one of the biggest cyber attacks in the history of banking. A woman named Page Thompson (3) was arrested on Monday for alleged involvement in the incident.

Capital One offers credit card and banking services. In terms of assets, the company ranks first on the list of the largest banks in the United States.

Capital One said in a statement on Monday that they were able to catch the hack issue on July 7. Hackers have taken advantage of the organization's infrastructure vulnerabilities. Their customer name, address and phone number were lost. The hacker has recovered some information including credit card score and contact information of the customer, even though the credit card account number was stolen.

In a statement, Capital One said hackers had seized an estimated 100 million of their customer information in the US. And Canada has lost over 100,000 customers. In addition, hackers have stolen more than 100,000 social security numbers and 1,000 bank account numbers in the United States. And Canada's Capital One credit card customers in Canada have lost about one million social insurance numbers.

However, Capital One thinks hackers will not have the chance to use the information they find out. Despite this, the company has started an investigation to find out how such a big hack happened.

Richard One, Capital One chairman, said in a statement: "I am happy to have been hacked. However, I am very sorry for what happened. We can understand the fear which is the cause for those who suffer in this incident. I apologize to them. "

Peg A. Thompson is on the list of suspects in the hacking incident. He reported the leak of information from the Twitter account 'Eratic' He was charged with cyber-cheating in a Seattle court. The hearing of the case will start from next Thursday.

The FBI seized all of his digital devices in a search of Thompson's home last Monday. There was evidence that a hack was being tried. Meanwhile, the bank authorities said they contacted the legal firm immediately after the noise was detected on their computer system on July 7. If convicted, Thompson could face a maximum sentence of five years and a fine of two and a half million US dollars (some 200 million taka more in Bangladeshi currency).
