VIDEO GAME REVIEW // Mad Max

Mad Max is an open world action-adventure video game based on the franchise of the same name. Developed by Avalanche Studios and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. Platforms include the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4. Released on September 1, 2015.

In this game you play as Max, a lonely badass wandering the post-apocalyptic wasteland filled with deserts, canyons and caves. You meet an oddly deformed guy who calls himself "Chumbucket", known to the wasteland as one of the most skilled mechanics all around. Chumbucket becomes your right hand man as you push through the wasteland in your monstrous muscle car known as "The Magnum Opus", to attempt revenge on the warlord Scabrous Scrotus, who robbed you of all your possessions. As you stroll through the wasteland you will be met by many different raiders of the wasteland, who will attack you on site. You discover new strongholds held by allies, and destroy strongholds held by enemies.

If you enjoy hours of gameplay, from looting every scrap location to destroying every enemy stronghold, then this game is for you. The more loot you gather, the more upgrades you can give to Max himself, as well as his car, The Magnum Opus. You can add new harpoon guns, different colors, different body types for the car and even more nitrous to make you go faster and faster. You can even upgrade Max's strength, stamina, abilities, and even the way he looks. Plenty of customization opportunities, which makes the game much more interesting.

The more characters you're introduced to the more Bio's you can unlock, which will give you a deeper understanding of the new character or location that you're introduced to. When looting you're able to find collectible items called "History Relics" which are interesting photos and letters that are left all around random locations within the wasteland.

Another cool mode of the game, are the many different Death Races you can take part in. In every different section of the map you can play a death race, where you either race to the finish line against others, or try not to be killed by enemy vehicles on your way to the finish line. The more you win these races, the more vehicles will become available to you. If you've ever played any of the Batman Arkham video games, then the fighting style will be very familiar to you. Hand to hand combat, with the option to press the Y or triangle button to counter attack your enemies around you. All in all, I give this game a 5/5. If you enjoy an amazing story mode over online gameplay, then this is the game for you. I recommend you give it try! I loved it!
