The Art of Descipleship

Let me start by bringing to our remembrance that Christianity was founded on the strength of Discipleship and by the effect of Discipleship, it spread across the nations.

Without Discipleship, Christianity might have started and Ended with the Earthly ministry of Jesus and so Jesus understanding this, did not only come to save us but also trained men who are called disciples to further the gospel, hence salvation got to us
Discipleship is fundamental to the furtherance of God's work on earth and because of this, God is interested in it.

In the book of Matthew chapter 4 after Jesus had finished fasting and being tempted of the devil, he began to select men who will be trained by Him, disciples in whom He can entrust the secrets of the kingdom.

Men irrespective of their status, willing and ready to learn, to submit to the leading of their master. And this process is called Learning.

As a matter of fact, the Greek word for disciple is mathētēs meaning a learner

The Art of Discipleship involves a Teacher - Student Relationship

Two parties are involved - The Teacher (Discipler) and the Students (Disciples)

So when Jesus was calling the disciples to Himself, it was a call to learn and when He was leaving, He still sent the Holy Spirit to them to keep teaching them because as long as they are disciples, they are learners

When we come into Christ, our learning journey begins, we start to learn God and His ways. There are people who have been taught by God and so they have the right to disciple and teach us that are just coming. This is not a function of age, sex, status or position.

So therefore we must submit ourselves to their teachings and trainings.
