I love playing guitar!
So, on Sunday last I played a gig with my band. Gods I loved it.
It's been a few months since we last played, and before that a few years. And before that, lots of years.
Gods I miss it. So much fun - especially because it's all original music which still sounds as fresh now as it it did back in the day. And because it's all original music which I wrote.
Don't get me wrong, I wrote the songs with my mate the singer. But, with a few key exceptions, everyone in the band is free to write their own part to each of the songs - as long as it fits with the feel, the "vibe" if you like, of the song itself.
There's nothing quite like the feeling of starting a gig in a room which doesn't care about you (except for a few fans etc), and slowly but surely reeling the punters in so at the end of the night the room is hopping and people are totally buzzing and yelling out for more.
It's so good.

So. Thanks mum, for all those evenings when I was a kid and you were in the cold car in Canberra winters while I was inside a music studio having a lesson.

Was hoping for a video of your gig wom! My guitars largely gather dust sadly. Would be great to be able to jam. Takes a lot to schedule in a busy world I'm sure.
Do you play lead or rythm. Are these paid gigs? In the screenshot the venue looks decent!

I kind of write songs (music anyway) as a mix of lead and rhythm - but mostly rhythm I guess. The other guys in the band build their stuff around what I do.
I'm no Hendrix, but I'm a solid guitarist and a pretty good composer (pop/rock/grunge/fusion). The one thing I can say about my writing is that no two songs sound quite the same. But somehow there is a consistency which I haven't figured out...
We used to play paid gigs back in the day, but the ones this year were unpaid (birthday parties of the band members)
It is so hard to get the time to practice up to the point where I feel confident going onstage.. Lucky I took the school hols off 👍
