EOS Blockchain Launch is go! Congratulations to Block.One and all the Block Producer Candidates.

Was I watching history today as I watched the block producer candidates (BPCs) vote to launch the EOS blockchain?

Time will tell, but it certainly felt like it. I have not checked in since, but at the time it was reported that consensus was unanimously reached by all the responsible BPCs to hit the go live button.

Take a moment to think about the audacity of what has just occurred.

Dan Larimer has virtually single handedly re-invented blockchain. First by creating graphene, the code used. Then by building on his experience with Bitshares (BTS) and STEEM, both ambitious but limited blockchain creations (the one a decentralised exchange, the other a social media platform) to create a blockchain platform which most coders can use to build decentralised applications (DApps) directly onto the blockchain.

In the process he has enabled the creative disruption of the ICO model, facilitating a 'airdrop' funding model which will provide developers millions without them needing to actually sell anything. This is going to be huge.

But he has also, through his uncompromising commitment to a decentralised economy, forced the community to launch the EOS blockchain (EOSIO) itself.

Hundreds of competing BPCs, in different timezones and representing many different countries and cultures, cooperating to launch the blockchain in realtime across the world.

Congratulations all. Well done!
