Being me.
In a year of Steemit posting I have gone through a few different phases. A few of these phases have focussed on creativity, although I haven't written much about the subject lately.
So here I am at the beginning of the school holidays - where I unexpectedly have the task of looking after Ms 9 for both weeks, not just the single week I planned for (as my wife is going to Vietnam for work) - and I find myself pondering the importance of creativity once again.
Holidays are so important. They are the doorway into our real selves - if we choose to take the opportunity. I love touching base with the real me. Even writing this I can feel the electricity in my brain - the neutrons flying along new uncharted paths (physiologically it feels like a warm glow).
I once again have the opportunity - amongst more mundane tasks - to engage with me.
And the real me is a being who loves to be creative - whether through music, or words, or a combination. Songs, fiction, beat poetry (steemofconsciousness) and posts like this on steemit.
My whole body seems to sing, the bonds of constrained thinking and behaviour so necessary for working life cast aside - if only for a few weeks. Muscles relax, and my mind is free to ponder the limitless bounds of the impossibly possible.
Yes, I have some mundane tasks to achieve - not least turning my study into my studio - my 'me' space. But that can be creative too - even if some real work will be involved.
My challenge? To maintain the creative edge of writing and composing, playing music and games, whilst redesigning, redecorating and refreshing my me space.
