So my artist Theresa gave me 14 pages of roughs today and I grabbed 2 to show you that I particularly enjoy. This comic takes place in the fall of 1921, so American society is still struggling with the growing pains of both Prohibition and women getting the right to vote.

In these panels a character named Mookie Smitts stumbles into a tea shop that used to be his favorite saloon, and proceeds to make a poor impression with the women he will soon be adventuring with.

Theresa Chiechi is great, her website is here: http://www.theresachiechi.com/

If you want to stay up to date on the project please give me a follow, either here or on facebook or instagram (below).

These are brilliant looking! You're making me want to go hire an artist and get to work on something! Though I aim to be a writer/artist, I love to see my ideas brought to life by others. There are so many artists much more talented than I, and Theresa looks to be one of them! I've got some serious excitement empathy going on... hope you're loving the process!

Thank you! I am over the moon that I finally decided to pull the trigger and make something of my own. It is probably more rewarding than anything I've done for my previous jobs. That's why I need to work really hard and build a following for this comic because I can only afford to make 3 issues out of pocket, but I don't want to stop! I'm going to probably need 6-8 issues to tell the whole first arc. (I have 4 main arcs in mind)

Neil Gaiman says that writing for comics holds a special place in his heart because it's the only form of writing where you get to experience your own work for the first time (when the artist first gives you a page).

I totally feel that every time I get an update from Theresa. If you've got the time or money go for it! You seem to have a lot of steem power, I bet you could start to pay for your own comic right away if you were posting updates all the time like I am.

That is a great sentiment from Neil Gaiman, and so true. I had that experience quite a few years ago when I paired up with a couple different artists to produce pages for me for a comic called Seer. While I love doing art as well, I'm not that fast or good, so I could totally envision myself as a writer/editor pulling together teams and inspiring them to produce a great story. You definitely seem to be pulling that off.

In all, right now I have 3 different stories in mind. One of which I've been developing more heavily as a one man team. You're absolutely right that Steem may give me the opportunity to develop them in tandem with other creators.

If you already have the first three issues covered out of pocket, I have no doubt you'll be able to raise the funds to finish out the first arc and just keep rolling from there.
