I finally figured out how to earn on Blurt!
It's everywhere: "EARN on Blurt!" Blurt's front page guarantees quick and easy rewards, official/pinned posts discuss it, even Blurt's presence on X is drenched with promises of earning, making money, and getting rich by posting content. It has surged even further in the last few weeks with the Probit delisting/relisting and various calls to action. (I am not naming names.)
But can you actually make money on Blurt?
This blockchain has been around for more than 5 years now. If you can earn here - if you can make money on a regular basis in return for your participation - then there must be someone who has done so.
Where are they?
If you, or someone you know, makes a significant income from your content and/or curation on the Blurt blockchain, please speak up! I've been searching for months now, and asked many times in various places, but so far nobody is able to name a single Blurt user that is actually making money here.
I mean, I would know.
I've spent almost 8 years on Steem/Blurt, nonstop, creating content, curating, and powering up (reinvesting) my earnings. I even brought 0.2 BTC into the equation, none of which I have ever withdrawn. I've been one of the most prolific and successful creators on this chain, year after year. I peaked in 2023, becoming top of several ranking charts, and hitting the milestone of 1 million BP at the end of the year. Since then, I have coasted a bit more gradually up to 1.4 million BP.
Through all that, I've also been one of the platform's biggest and most dedicated curators. I often rank in the top 10 largest rewarding/earning curators. I never take a day off, year after year, finding and uplifting quality original content. This has been another big source of income for me, gradually becoming even larger than my posts and comment income.
And of course, everybody also earns interest on all BLURT they have powered up. So that's always gaining. But it's gaining at the same pace as everyone else, so it's not really a winning strategy. My nominal gains are larger than other users', but I'm not growing percentage-wise any faster than the tiniest minnow. So holding BP isn't really earning you anything. The interest just prevents you from falling behind too quickly.
Put all together (creation rewards, curation rewards, and interest)... I am still down over 90% from when I started here 3.5 years ago. I've done everything right, I've gained in every possible way a regular user can, I've had friends helping me out, I've even been somewhat lucky. But the proof is in the pudding: my wallet is worth $3000 right now. Years of effort has turned 0.2 BTC into $3000 via the Blurt blockchain. Many others are in the same boat.
I've been doing it all wrong!
The correct way to "earn" using BLURT is to buy it low, and then sell it high.
That's it. Investing (something I personally never do) is the only way to make money on this blockchain. No amount of posting - not even the hardcore reward farming many users are doing - is going to turn any Blurt user into a financial powerhouse. Remember all the blogs on Steemit in 2017, posting about their world travels and other luxuries, all purchased with their blockchain rewards? And each post would earn another $1500+, spawning yet another cruise, or flight, or party? Those people were "earning". They were "making money".
Nobody is earning on Blurt. Nobody is making money. Let alone "getting rich", as some posts have been promising lately.
Prove me wrong. Name someone making money here. I'll wait.
So, can we please tone it down with the luring of new users by telling them Blurt is an easy pathway to profits? It isn't. Lying to people might work temporarily, but isn't going to lead to community goodwill or sustainable investment.
As for me, I'm just finishing my 1.4m powerdown, the first of my entire career on these blockchains. And you know what? It feels really good! I absolutely love not having to curate. Sure, I can if I want to. But I'm no longer obliged to (if I want to maximize my curation rewards and keep up with the pack).
My tokens are liquid, ready to use, ready to send, ready to spend. Now that I'm set up on Probit, I have another way to move into BTC, which I can then spend on groceries, gold bullion, and so on.
Now, the question is: Will there be an altcoin season this time?
It's the time for it, but it hasn't happened yet. I've been a believer all along that altcoin season will come, and I still think so. People were expecting it early this year, but in past cycles it has come as late as February.
So here I sit with my liquid BLURT, ready to sell if there's an altseason. If there isn't? I guess I'll decide what to do then, based on what's going on in the community here, and my personal life. But if there is, and BLURT returns to about where it was 4 years ago, I'll have $70,000 USD worth. And I guess that's how I would become a user who successfully made money on Blurt - by selling my bag to another holder.
After years of hard work, thinking my content was being seen, and slowly building an audience, "grinding" as they call it... I realize there's no way to earn like that. Posting may still be worthwhile, if it helps network, or actually gets seen widely. But you can't earn with your content. The whole concept, which launched Steemit years ago, has failed.
The way I'm going to earn on Blurt is now the only way available to me - to sell my tokens at the right time. But what if there's no alt season, and BLURT's price doesn't take off in the next 6 months? In that case, it means BLURT will probably crash to new lows during the coming bear market.
I don't even know if I'm going to be alive in 4 years. It's time for me to retire. If BLURT goes up, I'm going to sell. If it doesn't, I'm going to sell.
I've been told by a couple prominent community members that if I were to sell even a fraction of my holdings, the market would crash. That doesn't make Blurt sound very stable. A small part of my little stack would decimate the economy here? So... unless I want to destroy everything, I have to keep my money invested? It feels a bit like my wallet is being held hostage. It's mine, and I get to log in and look at it... but I can't take it off the Blurt blockchain? That actually just makes me want to get away from here even faster. And you can bet I'm not the only one.
So it's decided. Unless something changes, I'm looking for a buyer for my BLURT tokens in the next few months.
If it was possible to earn on Blurt, somebody would be doing it by now.
Some will bitch about this, accuse me of "FUD spreading" etc etc, but they can't argue with the facts I've just laid out. Who is earning here? We're promising new users they'll earn, but even our community veterans aren't making anything! Being one of the biggest earners, powering everything up for years, curating diligently with my investment... every month my wallet is worth less than the month before. I'm gaining tokens, but I'm not keeping up. We're all in the same (sinking) boat. We're not earning.
It's not fear uncertainty or doubt, it's just the truth. The only way to make money around here is to successfully trade the token. For me, I've amassed a lot of them over many years, but they're just sitting idle now. Better to be liquid and ready to sell, than to be powered up and "earning" a tiny trickle (that doesn't even keep up with the currency devaluation). If we see a bull market, I'll be selling into it, and someone else can have this bag. If there's no bull market, BLURT is likely a failed currency... and who would want to hold a failed currency?
Let's hope it's the former outcome, where BLURT has a huge price spike to ten cents or something. With a lucky sell point, I'll make $100k minus taxes, payout for my 12+ years of content and investment. I will be Blurt's big success story!

Yes.
The trick with Hive, Steem, SportsTalkSocial, Bee, Blurt is to earn from Creation, Curation, Delegation (Ecency etc) and convert 10 Hive, 10 Steem , 10 Bee, 100,000 Sports , 10,000 PEPE, 10,0000 Meme and 1,000 Blurt per week to Litecoin on Hive-Engine.com or Probit and send to Coinbase and convert to Bitcoin.
Selling smaller amounts every week prevents the price from crashing … and after 7 years you will have much Bitcoin. You can also buy Ethereum and Solana on Coinbase and stake to earn 2-4 % Interest. You can also earn 5% interest on your Bitcoin with Cointiply and 4.08 % interest on FreeBitcoin. Like a GIC but for Bitcoin .
Also use your Litecoin to buy Silver and Gold Maples on SilverGoldBull.ca
Steemit is now dominated by bots voting for bot generated posts. Blurt seems to have more humans willing to upvote human written content ... so it is actually easier for newbies to earn on blurt.
