How are you doing Drug Lords?

It has been completely hectic since the Rebirth of Drugwars.

Some bugs and glitches but we are on it and Battling each bugs for the past few days.

Concretly:
Working on a better design for Drugwars v0.2
Stabilizing the Battle mechanic
Adjustment and rules against Bots
Integrating a FAQ
Fixing the glitches
Adjusting the Shield

Out-of-sight:
Quests and Missions
Background Story
The client is now open source and we provide a drugwars package for open source tools.

That being said, it’s a constant work and everything is still in motion, so don’t expect these things to be engraved, it will still be adjusted, work and rework.

Still we’ve reached a milestone with:
11111 Players as of today!
In which 4922 players have spent at least 0,001 Steem in the game.
Between the 11111 Players, 9200 Drug Lords have been earning more than what they’ve spent.

ALSO…

We’ve always promised to have other rewards than the Daily Prize and the Heist...and we kind of kept that promise.
While some are abusing the game and its bugs, others have been fairplay and have reached out to the team to report those flaws, which we’ve rewarded with 200 and 150 Steem. You are awesome for keeping the fun for everybody!

Reminder : Attack bots are not authorized in DrugWars, if you decide to use some script to attack other players, it's now at your own risk, but you should be aware that you can lose all your accounts without any possibility to recover them.

Now Battles.

We know the Battle system is quite hard to grasp for now, which is why we’ve decided to improve it so that every players will be able to understand it right away. As it is in an adjustment stage we won’t go forward and explain every little details behind it.
What we can advise you is to build different types of units if you are aiming to let them go into a Battle, because each type of unit will be able to attack only once each round.

Don't forget that each unit have a transport capacity (the orange cube) which define how much resources of each they can carry when they beat their opponents.

You will receive more informations on the new Battle system very soon. (Let’s start the Ninja Change joke and Memes)

FYI

We are completely open to your suggestions and ideas about the platform design, so don’t hesitate to write them into the #ideas channel in our discord, still V1 won’t come back so don’t suggest that and mourn it, then go forward with the V2.

Also for Drugwars Rookie, you should head over here and soak up every bit of information presented.

See you on Drugwars as a wise or an ignorant Drug Lord...

Sort:

You are saying 80% (9200/11111) of the accounts have profited already? I dont believe that for 1 second.

They say that 4922 players spent more than 0.001 STEEM. That means that11111-4922=6918 spent ZERO STEEM and have profited just by making an account (although not more than you and I profit from people spamming our wallet with 0.001 transactions + memos though, lol).

Anyways. This means that out of the 9200 making profit, only 9200-6918=2282 actually spent any STEEM.

So, 4922 spent STEEM in the game (counting those that spent very little) and 2282 of spenders made profit. In other words, 4922-2282=2640 of the spenders are currently at a minus (although the game is of course not yet over). Still, that means A minority of 2282/4922=46.4% of the players who have spent STEEM are having profits. Most don't (yet).

So it is factually correct to say that more than 80% have made profits from playing the game.
But it is also correct, and perhaps more insightful, to say that a minority, 46.4%, of people spending STEEM to play the game made a profit.

I have to say, even 24 days after:
Great answer Fredrikaa!

Why not? If someone didn't invest or invest less then 0.01 he is in profit after 2-3 days at max. I know couple of guys playing that game that did invest around 50 steem and they are on plus as well.

I believe this could be true. 5000 accounts spent nothing so those 5K are in profit. Now that leaves 6100 accounts that did spend more than .001 Steem. 4200 of these could be in profit, which would mean that the remaining 1900 accounts are at a net loss. The important note is that the net losses by these 1900 are greater than the profits experienced by the other 9200 accounts.

I appreciate your skepticism

It's so obviously true. Obviously every account that didn't put money in is going to have positive EV after even a single payout. That alone appears to be 62% of the player base.

It turns out I fall into the minority category of players not in profit.

One final thing, you are calculating ROI wrong, which to me is a giant red flag. It is IMPOSSIBLE to have a POSITIVE ROI if you are still down money.

ROI is usually expressed as a percentage and is typically used for personal financial decisions, to compare a company's profitability or to compare the efficiency of different investments. The return on investment formula is: ROI = (Net Profit / Cost of Investment) x 100.

Please ban all non-human actions, not just attack bots.

Posted using Partiko Android

I think you got it very wrong. First of all best thing about blockchain is that it is programmable. It is perfect place for bots. You can't imagine better one. Then maybe you are in the wrong place and should go back to regular games or learn programming by yourself. Second thing is that in few years there will be so big advancement in the AI department, there will be bots that you would not be able to distinguish from normal players. Better get used to it.

I have no problem with bots existing. But keep them on a separate server. They can have a separate reward pool.
I am pretty sure the developers will agree with me.
If you think a bot wars game is a good idea, maybe you can try to make one. I am almost certain this game won't make any money.

Posted using Partiko Android

What other non-human actions do you mean?:)

No one should gain any advantage from using any bot, crawler, or tools not avaliable to all players. Automated actions whether attack bot or not should be forbidden or officially provided to all players on equal ground.
It should be clear in their terms of service.
By using the word attack bot theybare premitting all other bots and arguments over what that means.

Just ban all unauthorized scripts.

How do you propose preventing scripts from just interacting directly with the blockchain, instead of using the game UI?

That doesn't seem a reasonable expectation given the nature of the blockchain and JSON.

Simple. Reserve the right to ban for all unauthorized scripts. You want to run a script, get it authorized.
Someone could make 100s of accounts and just run non attack bot scripts to slowly and safely develop just investing in the heist and taking away resources from paying humans. The accounts can then be sold or the steem can be mined with no intent to actually play the game. It is not in anyone else's advantage.
There are probably already hundreds of accounts doing this and the problem will get worse and worse.

Posted using Partiko Android

How do you detect a script that interacts outside the game with the blockchain directly using JSON?

I'm not arguing for or against bots. I'm pointing out that the scripts don't need to use the UI to interact, to invest in the heist, to upgrade, etc. How are the devs supposed to ban scripts that interact directly with the blockchain?

These interactions aren't occurring in the game UI, where the devs have control.

Maybe the best solution is just wait until the game is a little more developed then create a human only channel. It will never be 100% impossible to protect a server from bots, but many games have quality anti-cheat systems in place which help.

I can't think of platforms similar to Steem that enable such interactions outside of the game UI itself. The situation vis a vis @drugwars and botting is novel because of that.

We'll see how things shake out.

It's being done already ;) Found 50+ identical accounts which are producing good, have nothing to steal and support quite the armies. But it may be manually done buy a family of 50+ well coordinated people, I don't know.

All of them... hate been kicked by a donkey while I'm loading my gun, or splashed by a dolphin when measuring my drugs, don't even get me started on howler monkey and sniffer dogs.

Non -humans are jerks, ban them all.

I confess I am pretty impressed by the work ethic you provably exemplify.

That being said, presently I am almost completely done playing. After battles recommenced I discovered there was no shield at all. I was attacked ~10 times while at work. I note that there is no notification mechanism of impending attack even when I'm in game. If you're not actively checking battle history, you don't know when you're being attacked.

There's also no 30% limit on resources above the silo safe storage. At least once, all of my resources above that storage amount were extracted in one battle.

What is the actual death of the game for lesser accounts is the inability to preserve units by keeping them out of battle when attacked by overwhelming force. I have no battle units now, and I'm not going to get any battle units until there's a mechanism to 'surrender' or yield, or otherwise keep them out of battle until I can field a force nominal to effectively deter an attacker.

While the current lack of limit on the number of attacking units plays a part presently, even when there is a limit of some kind, new players will not be able to grow an army unless such a mechanism is available.

At least the silos seem to work, and this is the only reason I have not just quit.

Some people have spent $1000s on their armies. Just throwing some resources into building an army cannot compete, so expecting folks to do that will not be rewarded. Only if that investment can be protected will there be rational reason to plunk down the Steem.

I know you're working very hard. I may be talking to a brick wall because of that, and this comment may be pointless, but, on the off chance you get a break and happen to see it, Imma make it anyway.

It would be a lot of fun to play this game if it wasn't an exercise in futility. Without a mechanism to protect units it's futile presently. I'll keep upgrading silos as possible, but when I hit the wall and can't protect enough resources to keep upgrading I'll be done, unless there's a change in the situation.

Thanks!

I depend on my silos as well. It's a good strategy if the silos don't cap out but they do?

Posted using Partiko Android

lvl 11 silos cost ~50k of each resource and increase the 'safe' amount from 73.75k to 75k. It's definitely a soft cap.

Wow that's barely different. Upgrading your operation center is helpful too. I like any of the "permanent" purchases.

Posted using Partiko Android

I really don't know how to make a bot but if you make a bot and just earning steem with the 1000 accounts they already have while they played steemmonsters with it I say do it like world of Warcraft. Just ban them. People who play without paying just let them. You have to have patience like an angel that should be rewarded. Not everybody has steem to spare. 🤗

Alright, so @drugwars said:

DW_report_2.jpg

If that's so why did units with total Att 454 and total Def 284 kill bouncers with total Def 750 + 144 + 40 while surviving total Att 846? Any first striking abilities that do not let units deal their damage? A sniper can take out 3 gunmen's Def, the Bazooka can blast them all, but then the rest should have survived.

Looks fine to me the way I've come to understand the battle mechanics

Need a full break down on the attacking. Stop making changes without announcements before hand. Makes it real confusing to understand the game.

Posted using Partiko iOS

Aside from the rank there should be a level until you reach the drug Lord level or whatever name you can think of. Having said the level , players then should only be allowed to attack those of their same level
