Happy HF21 Eve! - A work in progress? ๐Ÿ”—๐Ÿ–ŒsteemCreated with Sketch.

I've not been too busy on the Steem Blockchain over the last few weeks. The truth is I've been 'adulting' hard. My partner and I are expecting our first child in October, a boy - we are looking forward to welcoming him so much!... If you have any name suggestions, let's hear them because it is NOT AN EASY TASK! With this looming birth comes the need to start nesting and having only just moved into our own house (nest) at 33 weeks through the pregnancy I have very little time but to get shit done fast!! But you know decorating is fun... right? (does anybody really enjoy it?)

Anyway, to Steem. Well, I've read a lot of opinion now. It's here there and everywhere. Everyone has something to say (of course, and so we should). Some of the replies and argument strings I've seen are the biggest I've come across on any platform. I must admit however, these are the most passionate as we are all invested. I have to admit though, I've seen lots of negativity though, but funnily enough, not from those with the most invested in the platform, or, the Whales and the Witnesses.

I think that this platform is still a massive work in progress. We will get there, but the decentralised nature of Steem and blockchain in general means its going to take time.

Things do take time when there is a democratic process right? We we have our own type of democracy here (of course not a full democracy, but something similar - I do remember). The way I am looking at Steem right now is similar to what I encounter in my job and business in general. Everything needs time an lots of money to work. Investment must occur. If you leave the project solely to engineers, sure they will build something incredible, possibly ground breaking, it may be late and it may eat the budget and then some more. This doesn't always mean they will be successful though as other businesses (platforms) pip them to the post. Those projects that are in control solely by the money men and women (managers, economists, dictator types) are different, the project will be squeezed, conditions may not be great, there will be tight deadlines, things may get stressful and corners may be cut to achieve key milestones. To me it feels like our platform is more or less the former. Lots of inspiration, great ideas, great minds building things. But where are the money men? Where are the businesses? These are generally the people that bring money in and focus solely on maximising profit. It is what they know. Right now I feel like a more centralised, well funded and managed social media, blogging platform could well beat us. We (kinda) look to Steemit Inc to help with the declining price of Steem and bring people in, but I don't see that happening. Do they have someone who understands economics, supply and demand that can focus on that and do what it takes? You can be impassioned but you need the skills to truly succeed sometimes.

Just like many other opinions on Steem, I don't have the answer and I freely admit that. I am not a blockchain developer or an economist. I am a hydrologist, engineer and invested Steemian. What I will do though is crack on, write (because I enjoy it) and keep on earning, because even at 25% less than what I earn per article, its still more than I would writing my blog on a website that absolutely no one would take any interest in, and, oh, I am in a tribe. The tribes are what will bring people in. Peace out and stay positive everyone! ๐Ÿค˜

As Steem is just a work in progress (in my opinion) here is the work in progress in my house! Both need to get in order. We've got so much to do and the nursery hasn't even started yet are really are hoping for an 'on time' birth at this rate ๐Ÿ‘Œ

Yes that is a pregnant person up a small ladder

One thing I've learnt is that decorating is thoroughly boring and only as good as the music you have on, so for us the album Currents by Tame Impala is one to paint, sing and generally sing along to! Love it!
