Cold & Flu Prevention Tips: Sleep
[Cold & Flu Prevention Tips] Sleep deprivation prevents your immune system from functioning optimally. Thus, when a pathogen or virus strikes, the immune system can’t adequately fight it off and the consequence is that we get sick. Aim for 7-8 hours of sleep every night.
Sleep better with proper sleep hygiene:
- Aim to be technology free at least 45 minutes before bedtime. Don't be on your tablet, cell phone, or computer. Turn off the television. Settle down with a book or meditation instead.
- No caffeine after 3 pm.
- Make sure your bedroom is as dark as possible. Or wear an eye mask.
- Keep the temperature of your room cool.
