Healthy Life Hack: Meal Prep for the Week
As we all try to do more with less time,
we need new strategies that increase our efficiency.
I've been working hard maintain an exercise routine.
...and its paying off!
Not only do I feel better, I'm eating better. Eating healthy by using pre-packaged salads and other pre-made health foods has really to hurt my wallet, so I bought 4 nice Rubbermaid glass bowls from amazon and then went to the grocery store! The bowls are like $15/each but they are really good quality so I'm OK with spending the money once. Plus its really hard to find these perfect sized-glass bowls that can hold a salad large enough to feed a 200-pound man (~90 kg for you metric users).
If you live in California, you're probably used to seeing those $5 huge tubs of spinach or mixed greens. I've bought literally tens of these, if not 100s, but I've only finished two that I remember. Today I was determined - I aliquoted that salad into the 4 huge glass bowls and hard-boiled a dozen eggs:
I love cherry tomatoes, onions (cooked or raw), some kind of nuts (sesame seeds here, but love walnut, pecan, or almonds), and boiled eggs.
By storing the salads pre-made, and not adding the dressing yet, it wont get all soggy before I want to eat it.
More importantly, they are cheaper to make than pre-packaged, and I'm not going to get a pre-packaged salad with this level of quality.
Here are all four of them:
Finally, tucked away in the fridge:
LOL thats not a needle in that pic, its teeth-whitener!
Now I'm going to have some nuun and go to sleep:

isn't it better to keep the sunflower seeds separate till before eating? they draw in the moisture easily and lose their crunchy cracker feeling.
I have no idea, this is the first time I've done this. I'll let you know how they taste tomorrow. Have you tried it the other way?
not exactly, we don't put seeds in the salad, they're too expensive for everyday use. however every time I left them somewhere like kitchen, the moisture got to them and they got stale, I guess that's the reason most dry snacks are packed airtight.
Good post
Thanks for reading!
They look so delish and healthy! I'm not usually fond of storage as they take away yhr freshness of the veggies, but this may somehow slow down the oxidation process. Were there difference in the texture? Or was the difference hardly felt?
Tried it today and it was amazing. Each component seemed as good as usual. I will buy different dressing though, and next time I'll make sure to slice the chicken breasts (hidden secret that was still in the oven when I made this post).
Cool! I also think chicken breast is a nice addition to salad -- relatively healthy source of protein. Will be looking out for your healthy hacks. :)
