Rally News: Sweden Summary
Another great rally weekend saw Thierry Neuville getting revenge for last years dissapointment, where he lost the first place in the last stage.

He did no mistakes on Sunday, focusing on getting to the finish line, which paid out, leaving him and Hyundai victorious.
“It’s an incredible weekend. We didn’t expect to be so fast over here this year, but the team and the car gave us the chance to fight for victory. We deserved it last year, even more this year," Neuville told WRC.com
The weekends maybe happiest guy was Citroën's Craig Breen. The driver who time after time proclaims his love for his job and the sport got 2nd place. Proving that the C3 also is competative on snow.
3rd place went to Hyundai's Andreas Mikkelsen, who was eager to beat his teammate Neuville. A very good result for manufacturer Hyundai who, with 2 cars on the podium, went from last to 1st place in the overall standings in the fight for the Manufacturers Title.
While Toyota won Rally Sweden, with Latvala, last year, 4th place was what they managed this year. Esapekka Lappi got 4th just ahead of Hyundai's Hayden Paddon on 5th - who did well on his first WRC round this year.
In 6th place, Mads Østberg impressed us in his first WRC round in the Citroën C3. A good result in a car he didn't feel too comfortable in, and had some problems adjusting to his driving style.
On a nightmareish 7th place we got Jari-Matti Latvala, last years winner, who had problems with his front diff.
At the three last point-giving places we find the M-Sport drivers.
8th place: Teemu Suninen
9th place: Ott Tanak
10th place: Sebastien Ogier
Both Ogier and Tanak had to act as snow plows during much of the rally, being the first ones out on the stages. Still they did not have the speed needed, and it must have been a dissappointed M-Sport team that left Sweden yesterday.
Another great rally weekend, next up is Rally Guanajuato Mexico! Last year Mexico gave us a crazy, heart stopping finish by Chris Meeke. Could we get another?
Overall Standings after Sweden:
- Thierry NEUVILLE 41 points
- Sébastien OGIER 31
- Esapekka LAPPI 23
- Jari-Matti LATVALA 23
- Ott TÄNAK 21
- Andreas MIKKELSEN 21
- Craig BREEN 20
- Kris MEEKE 17
- Hayden PADDON 10
- Elfyn EVANS 8

The Monte-Carlo trio (Jari-Matti Latvala, Ott Tänak and Sébastien Ogier) logically suffered by opening the road in Sweden, as you say to act as snow plows. And very good performance by Hyundai...
