What have I learned from this 2- day encounter? Beware when you dare taunt Murphy. I beg of you - Rarely do it!!!! Is your pride and stubbornness such that you would call havoc to yourself?
Nay, dear soul!! NAY!
Your haphazard invitation is too sweet a request for him to deny. He will come - and he will come in spades! He will visit, bringing havoc and unrest with such vengeance - simply because he can. After counting down every moment for the last month, I awaited @sndbox's answer. Will they accept me in their Fall cohort or deny? Headed to doctor's appointment, where I would need to spend overnight in a hotel. Craved, hungered and needed watermelon in the worst way. No worries - a store less than a mile from my hotel! After driving for 6 hours, I didn't want to travel more than 2 minutes to drive to another store.... and SUCCESS! It was nearby! TAKE THAT, MURPHY!!!! I found my precious watermelon! I placed the box of juicy watermelon onto the seat - drove out of the parking lot and..... Nevermind that my gas light was on empty after driving so long - and I drove past the hotel 3 times, praying, praying, praying that I didn't run out of gas. Finally found the hotel! Ok. Ok. I made it! And now I'm so hungry - Just get in the hotel room and eat! I bought my favorite chicken too! AND I even bought extra sauce for the chicken - yummmmm. What are you gonna do about THAT, Murphy???? DARN YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU! BUT.... The night actually proceeded beautifully. He must have gotten tired and went to bed. Next day, I get a message from the hubs, "On the way home, can you pick up my favorite soup?" Sure! It's right next to the grocery store! Um...... tell me if you can see why Murphy arrived at the restaurant before me. Honestly!!!!! Is EVERY clock broken in the restaurant??? Well, I'm probably the most stubborn, pig-headed, defiant woman you will ever know. and so I say.....

I'm fully aware of this effect, but unfortunately failing to challenge Murphy does not cause him to stay away; he comes regardless. That is why I'm always a bit happy when something minor goes wrong, since that replaces something major going wrong.
And when nothing has gone wrong in a while... I tiptoe around, looking at everything going decently for once, and I wonder...
When is it going to happen? It's not if, it's when. When, and what, will go wrong? Cause it's coming, ready or not, and I always hope and pray I'm ready for whatever is about to happen.
