Fountains, Sailboats, and a Busker: Waterfront Park in Downtown Charleston by Day
After visiting Waterfront Park by night I was determined to head out the following day so I could get a look at it in the sunlight.
I was not disappointed, it was absolutely gorgeous, particularly underneath a clear blue sky.
Catching birds in flight is one of my new favorite photos. It's difficult to get a clear shot, but when I do it's always magnificent.
This was an extremely bad day for someone. Apparently that day occurred years ago, some passersby overheard our conversation and filled us in- the boat got stuck and it would have cost the owners more than it was worth to pull it out, so there it stays.
Not a bad place for a mid day walk!
The beached boat again- it was almost like an optical illusion since from the other side you couldn't tell it was on land.
Even without it being lit up as it was at night, the central fountain was still a beacon that called to me.
I had a revelation recently- I'm in love with water in all its many forms.
Though I prefer the natural like an ocean, a lake, a river, a waterfall...
I still enjoy a good cascading man made fountain :)
(Zoe and her new beau)
I was particularly keen to see the pier by day, it had been so dark the night before I could barely make anything out.
And I was super excited to run into this man. Nothing captures the charm of a city like a good busker!
The pier provided a nice view of the USS Yorktown battleship- you can take a tour of it, even sleep on it- something I decided to save for a future visit.
Nope, have no idea what those two were looking at, but aren't they so sweet?
It was a little chilly that day, but apparently in warmer weather it's not unusual to find this fountain full of splashing, screaming children. Explains why the smell of chlorine was overwhelming :)
And by children I of course meant anyone young at heart...I would so get in that!
Next Up: A stroll through the city streets of Charleston at night, so stay tuned!
