5 Minute Freewrite Day 520: Psychic

In a world were half-dragon sages bended the weather to their will, were scholars could manipulate aspects of reality, and the gods (or something like that) actually spoke to people, it was difficult to be skeptic about any special skill someone said to have. But Fabricia had learned that a healthy dose of distrust could save your life, so she wasn’t at all impressed when this random dude in the streets told her and all other passerby’s that he could, without using a spell, read minds and move objects at a distance, because he was a “psychic”.

Prove it -she said- What am I thinking right now?

You mean other than “this man is a farse”?, well… -he got close, a couple of steps, and frowned- You miss some people, a girl your age, a woman and an older man, you would like to visit them, but can go were they are, you are roaming, and have been doing so for some years already.

He said that with such security, that she felt her face betraying her, almost admitting that which she had been trying to avoid, but couldn’t. Before anything else could happen, she just turned around and went away, while muttering “stupid street performers”. What she didn’t notice while getting as far away from the man as possible, was her coin purse, floating silently towards the man’s open hand.
