Value going down

Sense I came to steam I have gained steem power but the value has dropped so much makes me wonder if it is worth my time. If I remember right they start you out at $5 worth of steem power and now I'm at $1.42 That is even after moving $0.60 forth of steem dollars to steem power. I was planning on buying some steem but at this point don't seem worth it. I will keep my money in Bitcoins.
