Pacific - Indie Game - Thumbs Up!
This little horror game made in 29-hours has some pretty cool angles to it!
Pacific has you roaming around what seems to be a bunker of some sort, and you quickly realize that the entire bunker changes it's layout as you turn your back on it. Wondering around this ever-changing solitude gives you this funny feeling that has you edge closer to the edge of your seat every time you move forward, turn a corner, open or close a door.
you gain this thrill of an unknown as to what is behind you.
As you do work your way through you uncover a narrative by finding cassette tapes and playing the audio which relates to Nuclear Fallout and the threats that it poses. It seems to be British Voices and broadcasts so it could be related to the UK Nuclear tests conducted in the 1950's.
Being Australian and knowing a bit about the history of those tests as some were conducted in Maralinga, South Australia which is my home state.
Struck a bit of a cord with me.
The game is short and I would have loved it to explore the subject matter and open up a bit more... but maybe not, maybe it was just enough time to create this lonely and quite real terror that fills you at some points.
It's the insinuation, the hinting at something but never really completely allowing one to see it in a whole picture that this game really delivers well on.
It's these angles and well-executed horror elements that make Depicted Prophet give this a Thumbs Up!

Indie games are awesome. They dare to do whatever they like! Followed.
Well said man! Indie Games have creative freedom that the AAA companies just can't.
