Taipei IOTA and build "smart city" on the blockchain

The capital of Taiwan Taipei aims to become a "smart city" and use the technology of distributed registry at the state level. To provide residents with new technology services, the city has partnered with IOTA, which uses Tangle technology instead of the traditional blockchain and focuses on the "Internet of things". Wei-bin Li, a representative of Taipei information technology Department, said the partnership would open "a new era of smart cities for Taipei residents."

The first innovation should be the ID TangleID based on the IOTA platform. The new format document will facilitate the work of law enforcement agencies by identifying criminals or monitoring electoral fraud, as well as help in other social areas, including health care.

IOTA is already developing TangleID, which will be a map the size of a palm with built-in detectors of light, temperature, humidity and pollution. Osnovatel IOTA Foundation David Sonsteby considers the initiative of Taipei is a significant step forward, noting that "the technology is ready to use in the real world, and it's not just a theory."
