Capitalism is allows you to own the fruit of your labour and that allows things like steem or computers to exist. Dont shit in the hand that feed you...especially not on this Christmas Eve.

I must agree that giving gifts is getting kind of useless. I do think though that you use word capitalism in wrong contest, I would rather say consumerism rather than capitalism.

I believe sharing with our loved ones is positive and healthy. And exchanging gifts is a way so share and have a good time.
Besides, kids are always happy to receive gifts (and adults too hehehe)
