First speaker: I am not Nigeria, I am Igbo
Second speaker: I know that's what the world thinks I am, But I am Yoruba,
Third speaker: I am Hausa
Fourth speaker: I’m Ijaw.
Interviewer: So how come you are all sharing the same label called Nigeria.
Igbo man: It has nothing to do with me.
Yoruba man: It’s a name given to us by a white man’s girlfriend.
Interviewer: Is that so? So where did Igbo and Yoruba come from then?
Hausa man: Well…. I'm not sure.
But
You need to understand something.
Unlike America, this is not a land of immigrants.
This is Africa and in Africa we have what we call “the son of the soil”.
Interviewer: Hmmm son of the soil…What does that mean?
Ijaw man: It means our ancestors have lived here for thousands of hundred years of years
Interviewer: Oh really
Interviewer to igbo man; What of yours? Yes
Interviewer to Yoruba man; And yours? Yes
Interviewer to hausa man; And yours? Yes
Interviewer; Okay. But looking at your land boundaries, It seems like your lands were so close to each other. How come you are so different?
Your fashion is different
Your cuisines are different
Your languages are different
Your traditions are so different
But worst of all, you don’t like each other
why don’t you like each other?
