Let me gist you this evening
Last month, I traveled to the east. It was such a wonderful experience, as it had been really long I crossed the River Niger. I went all the way to Abia State.
One thing that caught my attention in those parts is how they preach in the bus. I was shocked to the bones. They are very aggressive oo. Its not like Lagos where you will be forming bad gang inside bus. There, they'll tell you to close your eye and say 'amen', actually, they'll force you. My own eye oo. Hian.
That's how I was in a bus with my uncle. He wore a facecap. Then, with a loud shout, this woman at the back began to preach. I mean, with a loud voice oo. No jokes. She said 'let us pray'. The next thing ibheatd shocked me mehn. She said 'if you're a man and you're wearing cap, please remove it, also remove any earpiece from your ear, close your eye and let's pray'. I just weak. My uncle refused at first. This woman persisted oo. He finally removed the cap. He stays in the east, I guess he is used to it. Me, na Lagos boy. You don't force us to do anything.
I was stunned. Ahswear, at that point, I wanted to rebel. I wished I was with my earpiece, I for just plug am begin to dey play Wasui Ayinde.
I experienced this again another time. This one was at Uyo. I took a bus from Uyo to Benin. As the bus took off, one woman at the back said 'let us pray'. You know these prayers, especially inside long distance journey vehicles used to fear people. So, everyone sha bowed their heads in reverence. Whether out of fear or out of whatever.
So, this woman began to sing. I thought it was just going to be probably one or two songs, and then, she prays and we all go back to enjoying the journey.
But, no. The woman turned the bus into a crusade. My dear friends, forty five minutes later, we were still going strong. I just weak. The woman was mixing up songs, spiking lyrics, singing anyhow, people were tired. She will pause for a while, give prayer point, and then continue singing.
And with aggression ooo. She will shout that you're not singing, that you should open your mouth. That dead people are in the mortuary. I just weak.
Well, after about an hour, she finally fell asleep.
The Kain things wey dey happen for we country...smh
