Swamp Skiing Always an Adventure

in #nature7 years ago (edited)

Lots of snow, then a melt, followed by a hard freeze makes for the perfect back woods swamp skiing adventure. Lots of interesting tracks! I am on on hunt to see a Pine Marten or Fisher in my neck of the woods.

I rounded a pennisula and scared an eagle up,
Not more than 20 yards from me. It circled several times and never left the region. I figured it was either at a feeding site, or considering nesting. The region in which I scared it up previously had the nest ther. It blew down in a bug windstorm 10 years ago.

I didn't see my elusive prey, but an eagle, beaver lodge, oposum, and many rodent tracks kept it interesting.

It looks very similar to the neck of the woods I live in! I love walking through the woods and seeing different animals. I mostly see deer, red tail hawks and the occasional porcupine and skunk... that's when you walk the other way!! Haha nice post!!

Thanks for the reply. I love getting outside, it's always an adventure! Fortunately porcupines have very poor eyesight, you can be right next to them and they don't even know. Just don't scare the skunks....one lives under my deck, I can usually smell it before seeing it.
