A newly established commission at the State Department is allegedly going to be seeking to soon redefine what human rights are, based on natural law and natural rights.

What Are Natural Rights? Locke defined them as:

• Life: everyone is entitled to live.
• Liberty: everyone is entitled to do anything they want to so long as it doesn’t conflict with the first right.
• Estate: everyone is entitled to own all they create or gain through gift or trade so long as it doesn’t conflict with the first two rights.

Unfortunately though, you cannot claim to be protecting or upholding natural rights when you violate them in order to establish that organization that has tasked itself with protecting those rights. Contracts require consent. It's a bit hypocritical for that organization to be seeking to define and tell us what human rights are.

Some are worried that this new effort to redefine human rights will challenge what might have already been defined as 'human rights,' reducing rights that some might regard more as privileges or entitlements.

One organization that is responsible for countless violations to individual liberty, which suppresses natural rights rather than seeking to uphold them on a regular basis, wants to now pretend as if they care about natural rights whatsoever or respecting them. If they want to go back to assessing those founding principles of natural rights then that should also include how their very existence violates them by violating consent.
