Kerrygold Becomes Most Successful Food Export For Ireland

in #butter5 years ago

Grass-fed butter continues to grow in popularity as more people today are becoming increasingly comfortable with consuming more butter and healthy fat in their diets.

Several years ago you might not have been able to find grass-fed butter anywhere near you, or have even heard of such a product, but today it can now be found on shelves in markets in dozens of different countries.

Compared to margarine and other store-brand butters etc, grass-fed alternatives are seen as a higher quality product and consumers have demonstrated that they are willing to pay a premium for it. But grass-fed isn't the only alternative, we are seeing more specialty butters come to market, like cultured butter and slow-churned etc, as more people opt to increase the fat in their diets.

It's believed that regular butter contains lower levels of nutrients compared to grass-fed, and there are also concerns with the antibiotics or hormones that might be included in the grain that gets fed to cows that help make non grass-fed butter.

One of the most popular grass-fed brands on the market today is Kerrygold, though they've been seeing a growing amount of competition in the last few years as the demand for grass-fed has climbed. But for many who opt for grass-fed, Kerrygold is still a favorite and they reportedly sell more than 7 million sticks of butter every week.

They've now become the most successful food export for Ireland, seeing an annual retail value at more than $1 billion.

Kerrygold butter is sold in a number of countries and has previously been the fastest selling branded product on shelves in Germany, it's also the number 2 butter brand in the United States.

We love kerrygold dairy products. We don’t eat much butter but their Dubliner cheese (available at Costco for really reasonable price) is our favorite. We lived in Hawaii when Fukushima happened and we decided to stop eating any North American dairy due to bioaccumulation. That’s when we found the Dubliner cheese and Kerrygold. I’m happy to hear of their success. I wonder if others are making the move to this Irish dairy brand for the same reasons as us.

I think this is awesome. I prefer the taste for one, but healthier is always a plus. Watching a tub of margarine get slick but not melt is really gross. I switch back and forth between Kerrygold and Amish butter, it's hard on a tight budget yet so worth it.

Howdy doitvoluntarily! I love that stuff, we get it at Walmart, that's very good news!

I have bought Kerrygold butter and I like their cheese, too!

yes same here:)
