Distilleries Switch To Making Hand Sanitizer

Around the United States and elsewhere there are a growing number of distilleries that have been busy making a new product.

They have been switching to making hand sanitizer, a drastic change from their usual beverage products.

They've also been donating hundreds of bottles of hand sanitizer to hospitals and police officers in their communities. Some of them have even been simply putting out baskets with free samples to those in the community who need it, right outside their place of business.

In Georgia, Atlanta, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Oregon, and other places, many distilleries are now working hard to quickly make as much hand sanitizer as they can.

With a lot of those samples going out for free to those in need, such as senior care homes, hospitals, emergency workers, and so on.

Many might be surprised to discover that some shortages of supplies at their local stores might be only due to a few people, very few, and not the community as a whole panic buying. Various reports have detailed the stories of how there are many products that have been cleaned out by few individuals and their aggressive attempts to engage in retail arbitrage over the recent pandemic.

For example, one news report shared the details of just one man in TN who had been driving around, more than 1300 miles, to visit several dollar stores, Home Depot, and other stores, so that he could quickly buy every single hand sanitizer in sight.

Those products were then sold on platforms like Amazon, some for as much as $70, for a tiny $1 bottle of hand sanitizer. But Amazon and others are now cracking down on the sales of those products. Now those who stocked up are sitting with garages full of wipes and sanitizers with no place to sell them to take advantage of the fear and empty shelves right now. That one individual from TN is also now allegedly under investigation from the TN attorney general.

They have also donated the rest of their stock which was something around 18,000 bottles of sanitizer.

While you've got those stories, with one individual or a couple cleaning out an entire stock of wipes or hand sanitizer from one or more locations, just to hike up the price and sell it online later on, we also see the opposite. There are other stories of people being generous and donating their supplies for free.

Like this boy here, Jayden Perez who is from Woodland Park. He donated more than 1,000 hand sanitizer sprays to the fire department, police department, library, and school district. He was able to place a bulk order for sanitizer at the end of Feb and had enough to share with the community.

His generosity adds to that of those working at the distilleries around the United States and elsewhere who are also trying to produce enough sanitizer to get it to those who need it, many of them doing it for free.

"We are in a national emergency,...What's the right thing to do? The right thing to do is support this community by providing something that is in desperate need. We'll flood the valley with hand sanitizer and drive that price right down." - brewery founder C. Butters.

Other companies that have also switched to producing hand sanitizer now include the likes of luxury perfume makers and even a chemical company, known as Custom Chemicals and Coating.

Across the United States and in other countries, the production of hand sanitizer is quickly being ramped up, and we can expect that it will not take long for those supplies to flood the market.

Thanks to the distilleries in the UK, the United States, Canada, and elsewhere, we will see an abundance of hand sanitizer once again.
