At some point
we must put on a tie
and walk with our head
held higher
than we
know we
deserve

Knowing someone
who knows someone
is the key to success
but you won't tell
because keeping a secret
keeps your success

Fake handshakes
false promises
empty compliments
but you have a pretty
cubicle with a view
of the lunchroom

Breathing recycled air
in dimly lit hallways
where the only sign
of life are plastic plants
covered in dust

No wonder
we never want
to grow up
ever
