A Short Week in the U.S.A.
For many, today is the last working day of the week. People need to get away from the hustle bustle of their lives to munch goodies or play games. I suppose they are like the early pilgrims and feel grateful to have survived the year.
Frankly... this is how I feel. I did not think the global economic system would survive this long. Here we are. Things appear stable and semi-prosperous. Generally things seem normal.
My problem is that normal feels shaky. Instability has been the rule in the U.S.A. for over 12 months. If there were a way off this crazy planet I would take it... I think... well... NUTS!
Today they destroyed my driveway entrance, broke it into pieces, hauled it away in big trucks, and poured new concrete. This repair is part of city improvement plans. When I stepped outside I heard the workers conversing in Spanish. I suppose this is the result of granting the repair contract to the lowest cost bidder. How do you say "Happy Holidays" in Spanish?
My son and I were riding home from the doctor when we saw a squadron of jet fighters maneuvering in the clear November skies over the airport. I asked him... "What possible situation could happen over North Eastern Oklahoma which would require a squadron of jet fighters?" He said there were none he could think of. These pilots were part of the Oklahoma State military reserves. We then discussed the massive military production complex and how the economic support trickled down into our society. His guess was this madness would be getting worse. The fighter jets roared above.
Many people will be enjoying this holiday season. Many children and adults will play video games of war and violence. Fun distractions and lots of tasty snacks will fill us.
The early Pilgrims were people fond of peace and sharing. We have become a nation who hires hard working people from another country while we serve big government systems supported by governmental military contracts.
Here is today's beauty.
I get what you are saying. Confusion, yet we are surviving in this very complex world. Have to say I am Thankful that we,or at least most of us are surviving. Love to you
Thank you for your daily posts and have a great Holiday.
