A Question of Destiny
Do I have a destiny? Can I change it? Is there a 'master' plan I am doomed to follow? These are interesting questions that have been debated many times.
Most agree that we have a 'free will' and therefore reject any notion of following a path that leads to a particular end. However our predisposition to making these 'free' choices may actually be directing our steps.
A pivotal question is what actually triggers our thoughts? Can some external force place a thought within our mind? Is inspiration strictly an internal mental process or can others share in this process?
Am I able to influence your destiny as I write these words? I hope so, but in opening the possibility of external influence we lose our grip on self will. Our choices become a blend of internal and external influences. This introduces the potential that our lives may be externally directed.
The problem then shifts to our lack of human capacity to sense and understand 'spiritual' forces. It turns out to be a complex issue.
I am lost in this jungle of thought because I am considering my mother's fate. Her capacity to survive physically seems to be 'in God's hands'. That is it is not within the control of herself or her doctors.
We have digressed to a question of the power between life and death. Is it possible that we exist within a massive random system where everything is luck? If so, why do i struggle to seek understanding?
I do not know and cannot prove any of my guesses.

I think not knowing the answers to your questions is what makes life worth living. Not knowing the future is the greatest gift we have. Have a nice day.

Yeah that's an interesting and fine line that you present. If we're to lay back and let God take control, then does that mean we sit back and do nothing. We can eat whatever we feel like because God will keep us alive the time we're meant to be on earth.
Or do we try and control everything. I suspect it's somewhere in the middle, but what that point is I don't have a clue.

This hour is very hard for you. But, I think, you perfectly understand that death is far from the end. In occasion of destiny, my opinion, that the destiny - is subject to us.

Was in a training years back and something was said that was very interesting and it touches directly on the question: "what actually triggers our thoughts?"
He said we all have our own box and it's very hard to see things in a different perspective then our box allows. The walls of this box are made up of our past experiences, teachings from childhood, and just overall head trash. He said no two people will view an opportunity or problem the same way because each of them has a different box they filter the situation through.
His point was that you aren't going to change the other persons perspective by repeating the same thing. So if you are at an impasse you might need to change your approach to avoid an argument or to win the argument.
So does this mean our past dictates our future and therefor while we are born with free will by the time we are adults our paths are written based on our past...not sure I believe that as my past would have taken me a very different direction.
