Who wants to Blockprint?

in #art7 years ago

I was in high school when I was first introduced to block printing.
My art teacher taught us various different printing techniques. But, at the time it was the album cover art for KMFDM that really made me think "This shit is cool!"

It was modern propagana style art that blew my mind.

So I started making prints....
The purpose of this this post is to gauge wether or not you guys are interested in this subject matter. I have been toying with the idea of making a "how to" vlog.
I must admit... I haven't printed in some time but this is the perfect opprotunity to start up again. So here are a few examples of linolium block prints I have done in the past. On the right is the actual block. It's also a piece of art in it's own right.

Anyone want to talk block printing?
I hope @sighmanjestah sees this. He has inspired me to share block printing knowledge to the masses.
It's time to summon my inner Bob Ross

Heck yes! I'd love to know more about it. I've been curious for awhile now, seems like a nifty way to make unique covers for zines, and I'm also pondering how/if it could be incorporated with watercolours.

Here is one I watercolored.

I think printing and water coloring go hand in hand.
The printing lays down the law.
The painting adds the fabulous.

That's really awesome! Thanks for taking the time to reply and show me that, looking forward to some posts on the actual process.

This looks awesome!

I have actually never heard of block printing until now. But this seems like art that challenges the mind. Which I have to say is some of the best if you ask my opinion. It's what I would prefer hanging up on my wall just to see who would catch on when they were visiting.

The Godlike one reminded me of a cartoon series called XMen because the pose is just like these robots on the show.
