Ebay is "seriously considering" accepting Bitcoin

 A senior executive of the company said that internally the company is discussing the issue. 

 EBay, one of the electronic commerce platforms largest in the world, is considering taking the leap to the payments through cryptocurrencys, according to an executive of high rank of the company. 

Scott Cutler, senior vice president of eBay Americas, said Yahoo Finance that the e-commerce giant is holding serious discussions in order to become the company with the highest profile to accept payments with cryptocurrencies. 

 "This is a trend everyone is talking about, but sadly on EBay we currently don't accept Bitcoin as a payment," Cutler said. "We are seriously considering this, as these cryptocurrencies have become a more common payment instrument, but we have not yet succeeded." 

 Cutler added that the website serves as a popular aftermarket for cryptocurrencies mining hardware. Thousands of other collectibles related to cryptocurrencies are also sold there. 

 Although it does not seem that EBay currently has concrete plans to make payments with cryptocurrencies, the fact that a senior executive says the company is holding high-level discussions on the issue is a testament to how quickly Bitcoin is Penetrating the global trading system. Everyone talks about the  cryptocurrencies.

 In fact, last week, the Bitcoin sales app, Coinbase, became the main Apple Store app, indicating that retail investors are incorporating themselves into the Bitcoin ecosystem at a vertiginous pace, a pace so Fast that Coinbase has suffered persistent interruptions due to record traffic.  

 This week, the first Bitcoin futures contracts were launched in the US Futures exchange, CBOE. For its part, CME, the largest bag of derivatives in the world, will start listing Bitcoin futures next Monday, 18. Futures are expected to lead to the creation of the first Bitcoin ETF, a retailer-friendly investment vehicle that can easily be restocked in brokerage and retirement accounts.
