PERKS OF WORKING ON WEEKENDS

Perks of working on weekend.

It's around 4 pm here in the PH, I'm sitting on my desk thinking of "what if". So many questions. The feeling of loneliness when there's no one to talk to. My weariness turned into boredom. Usually this office is full of people, friends. But right now, I'm sitting here all alone.

"PERKS OF WORKING ON WEEKENDS"

I'm working in an ITO in Philippines. Outsourcing are well known for working long hours even on weekends. The usual In weekdays, this place is full of busy people working day and night, everyone is working hard to finish their job. While weekends are for relaxation, but for me, I have to work afternoon, where I usually work alone on my department.

Why did I chose to work on weekend?

"I didn't". It just so happen that my attendance was low due of my previous absenteeism. Last month, I got sick, my body was getting weak, the feeling of someone pulling me down, every movement feels like a lifetime, I had to see a doctor. That's when I found out that I have a UTI (Urinary tract infection).

I have no choice but to rest, "I got the lowest attendance". My boss decided to put me on weekend since no one wants to work on that day.

Well, it's like a blessing in disguise. Let me enumerate you the perks of working on weekend.

There's no boss on weekends. Working without supervision is stress free, I can do whatever I want. Put my make up on, bring my phone on my table. It's really satisfying.

There's no distraction. Since I am the only person in our department in the office. I can concentrate better, for short, I'm more productive. But then it's creepy and lonely at the same time.

Less work load. Like I just said Weekdays are most busy day in the office, there are tons of work waiting for everyone. Lessening weekdays stress and the possibility of being burn out due to over work may lessen.

"Work" is not separate from life. It’s part of life, and weekends are part of life too. I cannot say that working on weekend can be an ingredient of a "happy work life balance". Some may agree some may not. I think the most important thing is how you appreciate and love your job. We do not live just to work. But all I can say is, Enjoying your work could be the bread and butter of a happy work life balance.

Of course, there's also some drawback. The main one would be less time for your family and friends, love ones. Who doesn’t enjoy morning coffee with your love one during Sundays? Who doesn’t enjoy pigging out with friends on Saturday night? A movie with the family? Church with Mom? Extra cuddle on Sunday morning? Of course you will miss those. But then again, I don't have anyone waiting for me in my apartment.

For those who work during weekend like me, I am with you. You may be missing dates, party with friends and family. Remember what the perks are. You can always make time for them during your rest days. Time management is the key. Some may agree and some may not. Just don’t overwork yourself. "A healthy body is a wealth".

A good balance between Happy work life and personal life is a must.

Looks like you have great perspective on the situation. My hope one day is that my work becomes part of my life and I don't see it as a job.

Always look at the bright side. Remember the beautiful things and reason why you started and why you need to work. :) Have a good day!

Great line Work" is not separate from life. It’s part of life, and weekends are part of life too
