That's One BIG Tree Stump
This photograph was taken a couple of miles from the entrance to "Devil's Tower" National Monument in northeast Wyoming.
The name "Devil's Tower" is a misinterpretation of the native's name for the stump which more literally translates into "Bad-god tower." The concept of the devil was brought to the "New World" by European "settlers".
Here is the "stump" from the visitors' center just outside of the park entrance.
