What I've learnt from Steemit
In ten days, I will be two months on this interesting platform.
There are some things I have learnt here which I may not have learnt on any other platform. I believe these lessons are important in life.
Your votes cost you something, your voting power. Before I got the hang of Steemit, I wondered why someone would comment on your post, saying how good it is, but won't give you an upvote. Maybe if we lose power for our votes, we would be more mindful of who we spend our votes on in the next election in our different countries.
You have to socialize if you want to be recognized. I joined Steemit with a group of other people and only a handful of us have gone a good distance above the default reputation of 25. Some felt we did magic, and grumbled, but one of us explained it in a way i couldn't . He simply asked them to socialize so they could be seen. On Steemit, you have to expose yourself by entering the worlds of other Steemians.
I have also learnt that someone somewhere is observing all your actions. There are times I've written what I thought was great content and tagged all I felt I needed, so as to draw attention to my 'great' post, but nothing happens, and some days, i'd write from my heart and forget about it, and some whale will give an upvote. I have learnt that someone always sees your actions, and one day you will be rewarded.
I have learnt that there a good people who are selfless, and will fight for what they believe in, helping it grow. The don't bother about being paid, as their passion drives them.
I have learnt that nothing good comes easy, and if you search for the easy life, you make mess of the process the above-mentioned good people are trying to build.
I have learnt that growth takes time, and if you keep at a thing, diligently, you will excel. you have have to trust the process.
I have learnt many other things, but the most important I have learnt is to contribute in building, and in the course of time, you will be rewarded, somehow, someday.
It is my understanding that the money paid for votes comes from the new Steem tokens being created. Please see the FAQ page. I copied the question and answer below from that page.
"Does it cost anything to post, comment, or vote?
No. It is free to post, comment, and vote on content on steemit.com. You might even get paid for it!"
https://steemit.com/faq.html#Where_do_the_tokens_come_from
I hope you find the information useful.
I'm talking about the steem power. With each vote it reduces.
I don't understand, please provide a reference to this claim. Your Steem power determines the value of your vote, but it does not take anything from you when you vote. The money is coming from the reward pool of money set aside for paying contributors.
Why is this a problem for you?
When you vote, the voting power reduces over time, and it has to get refilled again. So you take a break for a while, and it refills up.
I'm talking from what I noticed.
That is correct, your voting power is reduced with every vote, and your curation rewards are determined by your voting power. It would have been nice if you included this explanation in your post, because it gives the reader the impression that voting is taking money from thier own wallet, and may discourage the new user some from upvoting good content.
Okay. Thank you
