Before sleep .. Beware of the "iPad"!

A recent study found that people who read from a tablet computer such as the iPad for 30 minutes before going to sleep feel less sleepy, compared to those who read from a book as brain activity varies between the two teams during sleep.

But the time it takes for the two teams to sleep and their sleep has not changed.

"Light is making a difference so we expected a less sleepy feeling in the case of reading from the iPad before sleep than the book," said Jean Grunley, a senior researcher at the University of Bergen in Norway.

But she added that the amazing thing was that the iPad light did not delay sleep.

"We found a delay of 30 minutes in generating slow waves during sleep in the case of an iPad," she told Reuters Health by e-mail.

The study involved 16 non-smokers between the ages of 22 and 23 years dealing with tablet computers and do not suffer any medical or psychological disorders or problems related to sleep.

The participants said they felt more sleepy when they read a book before bedtime, Sleep Medicine reported.

After the reading of the iPad, scientific readings pointed to the delay and decline of slow wave activity in the brain, indicating a deep sleep compared to those who read from the book before they covered in sleep.
